CAREGIVERS + MOTHERS ❤️
By Bruno Nwaneri
Who Takes Care of the Woman Who Takes Care of Everyone?
Motherhood is already a full-time responsibility. But imagine raising children while also caring for an elderly parent or a family member who depends on you.
Your day begins with preparing meals, getting the children ready for school, managing the household, and attending to your family's needs. On top of everything, you may need to help an elderly parent bathe, take medication, attend medical appointments, or manage daily activities.
By the end of the day, you may have given everyone your time and energy, leaving nothing for yourself.
But who takes care of you?
My Opinions: We Must Talk About This More Often
I believe one of the most overlooked struggles in caregiving is that of mothers who must balance raising children with caring for ageing parents.
These women often sacrifice their sleep, social lives, personal interests, and even career opportunities. Some feel guilty when they take a break because they believe they should always be available for their families.
Society often praises women for being strong and selfless, but we rarely ask how much that strength is costing them.
Being a good mother does not mean doing everything alone. Being a loving daughter does not mean sacrificing your entire life to care for your parents.
